CV

My field of research is energy use in buildings and neighbourhoods. My PhD project is called "Data-driven Load Disaggregation and Building Load Profile Classification". The PhD project will be written within the research group Electricity Markets and Energy System Planning, under Department of Electric Power Engineering and the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at NTNU.

The main research questions to be answered in this project are:

R1. How can aggregated energy metering be disaggregated into typical load profiles per energy service?

R2. How can building load profiles be classified based on disaggregated load data?

The focus of the Ph.D.-project will be on HVAC-loads in buildings. The main outcome expected from the PhD will be one or more methods/classes of machine learning algorithms for load disaggregation for HVAC loads (domestic hot water, space heating, other appliances, etc.) in buildings, as well as one or more methods for will classification of building load profiles based on disaggregated load data. The methods developed in the project could be used to improve the methodology for calculating the peak load of buildings, improve the commercial standard NS3032, and the methodology for calculating the peak load element in the energy label of buildings. The methods could also be used for improving commercial products for load disaggregation and classification of building energy loads.

COFACTOR

The "Coincidence factors and peak load of building in the Norwegian low carbon society – COFACTOR" project will provide knowledge to improve both grid planning and design of buildings.

FME Zero Emission Neighbourhoods

At the Research Centre on Zero Emission Neighbourhoods (ZEN) in Smart Cities, we create solutions for the zero emission buildings and neighbourhoods of the future. Together with our public and industry partners, we develop 9 test areas («pilot projects»)
