I am a human geographer by training, and my research focuses on the intersections of environmental change, food systems, livelihoods and adaptation in mountain and environmentally fragile regions in Nepal, India and Afghanistan. Methodologically, I   combine qualitative and interdisciplinary approaches to understanding how environmental and socio-economic changes shape people’s livelihoods, food security, mobility and adaptation. Educated in Nepal and Norway, I have worked as a lecturer and researcher in Nepal and Norway before joining NTNU. Here, my research contributes to understanding the societal dimensions of impacts of and adaptation to cryosphere changes in the Indian Himalaya and Swiss Alps within the Cryoscope Project.
