Educational failures are often the root cause of healthcare failures; headache disorders are not well understood or recognised by healthcare providers, and they are commonly misdiagnosed and mismanaged.
Education of doctors and/or other healthcare providers in good headache management, according to a basic syllabus, and instruction in the effective use of what are often limited resources, are therefore an integral part of most interventional projects.
Our major and more active partner in training in headache management is Sapienza University, Rome, Italy. Here are undertaken a broad range of educational activities in headache, including the annual Master degree course in headache medicine, an international training-the-trainers programme.
Otherwise, and in the context of interventional projects, education must be provided locally, and in the local language(s), and is therefore undertaken in collaboration with local universities and/or professional bodies.
