Human, Organizational and Societal Aspects

The field of Information Security and Communication Technology is undergoing rapid dynamic changes. These changes require societies, organizations, and individuals to adapt and prepare for new challenges associated with sustainable and secure digital transformation.

The Discipline is unique as it not only addresses technical challenges but also carries out research and teaching in highly important areas, including human-centered next-generation networking, human factors in cyber defence, cyber power, information security management and risk assessment, digital economics, as well as social, psychological, behavioural, and legal aspects of digital transformation.

The Discipline consists of 18 employees: 6 Professors /Associate Professors, 4 Postdocs and Researchers, 4 Ph.D. Candidates and 4 Adjunct and Affiliated Staff (August 2022). Members of the Discipline are active partners in various research groups, such as the Networking Research Group, eHealth and Welfare Security Research Group, Cyber Defence (CCIS), System Security (S2G), and Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Research Group. We are also involved in the Norwegian Cyber Range activities, including training, practice, and competence development within the area of cyber and information security for companies and public organizations.

Currently, members of the Discipline are involved in research projects funded by the Research Council of Norway, EEA Grants under the Baltic Research Programme, as well as commercial R&D projects within the field of cyber risk management.
