KomplemeNT info

KomplemeNT is a national network that will strengthen Norway's expertise in the use of chemical informatics and nontarget analysis (NTA) to solve challenges in several sectors.

The purpose is to establish a platform for collaboration between geographically dispersed research institutions with complementary expertise and infrastructure. The network will facilitate the joint utilisation of expertise and infrastructure, develop educational offerings, and promote best practices for data-driven chemical analysis. It will also strengthen Norway's position in international research collaborations, particularly within Horizon Europe.

The project is structured in three main axes

  1. Joint utilization of national infrastructure
  2. Competence enhancement and professional integration
  3. Development of applications and financing opportunities

Deliveries include mapping of infrastructure, seminar series, the development of common courses at master's and PhD level, and the establishment of interfaces with industry and administration.

In the short term, KomplemeNT will strengthen coordination and competence transfer. In the medium term, it will contribute to increased international participation and the establishment of a national research school. In the long term, it will contribute to a sustainable and robust national capacity for chemical risk assessment and data-driven decision support.

The project is led by the Department of Chemistry and Biomedical Science at NTNU and involves professional groups across 12 national institutions. KomplemeNT is strategically anchored in the partners' plans and supported by existing international networks and projects.
