The Film Research Group is interested in the ways in which film and adjacent media forms have been developed and studied as aesthetic forms, industry sectors, and social practice.
This includes research into:
Film genres.
Theories on the film experience.
The history of film and related media.
Directors and other professions in film and screen media.
Social issues in film and screen media, such as gender, diversity, sustainability, ecology.
Film festivals as events.
Media industries including development, production, distribution, exhibition, and reception of film and screen media.
Digital methods in researching film.
New forms of public engagement (video essays, podcasting, and more).
Based in the only Film Studies program in Norway, we are interested in film and screen media developments in Norway, but also film research with an eye on the broader Nordic, European, and international contexts.
We welcome colleagues who want to join the discussion.
