Academic staff may apply for research and development leave abroad.

Academic and technical-administrative staff at NTNU may apply for funding through Erasmus+ for teaching or training stays at an institution with which NTNU has an Erasmus agreement in Europe.

Job shadowing

Both academic and technical-administrative staff have the opportunity to undertake a placement at an institution abroad, for example through the Erasmus+ programme.
The two most common options are teaching staff mobility and administrative exchange/training stays, in order to benefit from the host institution’s experience and "good practice".

4-5 weeks project stay in the 4th semester

Our education currently collaborates with universities and organizations in the Philippines, India, and South Africa. Students have previously had projects and internships in countries such as Australia, South Africa, Denmark, Brazil, Jamaica, Mexico, Ghana, Turkey, Chile, Belgrade, Uganda, Kenya, London, Zambia, among others. In addition to our collaboration agreements, we have established an extensive network of both Norwegian and local NGOs (voluntary organizations) that carry out social work in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America. This network is built up through both the teachers’ and students’ contacts, and it is constantly expanding.

A whole semester exchange stay in the 4th semester

You have the opportunity to travel to a university or college and take subjects equivalent to what you would have taken at NTNU. Previous students have been in countries such as Australia, Belgium, New Zealand, and Denmark.

A whole semester of internship studies abroad in the 5th semester

We have a limited number of internship places abroad. We currently have collaborations with places in India and South Africa.

Internationalization for master’s students

At the master’s level, there are opportunities for study abroad in the Master’s programme in Social Work and the Master’s programme in Disability and Society.

International Internship

International Internship

To go abroad, you must take the elective course International Internship. You are responsible for finding a suitable placement that meets the learning outcome descriptions of the elective course. The stay abroad must have a duration of five weeks or more.
Students will receive individual supervision from both NTNU and the company/organisation. Students may establish contact with the company/organisation on their own. NTNU can assist in establishing contact at the start of the course if the student has not done so independently.
Students who are to complete the course must apply for travel support and scholarships within the regular deadlines.
