Patrick Schuch from Norwegian Biometrics Laboratory has won the prestigious award from The European Association for Biometrics (EAB) for his doctoral work conducted at NTNU for the year 2019. Patrick Schuch has contributed a number of algorithms for fingerprint recognition and faster indexing of fingerprints. His work explored the recent advancements from Deep Learning for improving fingerprint recognition for fingerprint sample enhancement, orientation field estimation, and efficient processing structures. His contributions were highly acclaimed and was conferred "European Research and Industry Award" from EAB. He was supervised by Prof. Dr. Christoph Busch at NTNU i Gjøvik and during his doctoral work, Patrick Schuch was holding an appointment as Systems Engineer in the Biometrics Research Department at DERMALOG Identification Systems GmbH.

He now continues to work as a post-doctoral work at NBL, NTNU.
