Ocean Health - Ocean and coast
NTNU Ocean and Coast - Ocean Health

Mission: We will develop knowledge about the interactions between humans and the ocean to support healthy marine ecosystems and the sustainable use of ocean resources.
Team Ocean Health focuses on how human activities influence the state of the ocean, marine biodiversity, and ecosystem services. Pollution, resource consumption, and climate change place increasing pressure on marine ecosystems. At the same time, the ocean is a vital resource for people: providing food, recreation, economic opportunities, and benefits for human health and well-being. Our work therefore aims to better understand the relationship between humans and the ocean, and how this relationship can be shaped in ways that respect both the intrinsic value of nature and human needs. In our work, we start from the premise that nature has value in itself and deserves protection. Ocean health is therefore about balancing use and conservation. Team Ocean Health is an interdisciplinary meeting place for researchers, students, and external stakeholders.
The team brings together expertise from fields such as psychology, industrial ecology, chemistry, archaeology, geography, and other disciplines.
