Visit from Minister of Research and Higher Education Sigrun Aasland
News
Minister of Research and Higher Education Sigrun Aasland visited Trondheim and NTNU on Wednesday (15. October) to present the national budget.
She visited the new GrandARM microscope in the TEM Gemini Centre which is very soon going to be taken into use. Randi Holmestad, leader in RA1 on multiscale characterization in SFI PhysMet, told the minister about the specially designed room with electromagnetically shielded walls, what
we can study in the new microscope, how we run the NORTEM infrastructure, how such research infrastructure can help Norway in the green transition and about the good collaboration with SINTEF. The instrument will be used to study recycled aluminium alloys – where impurity elements accumulated during recycling will be studied down to the atomic level. It seems like everybody enjoyed the visit! :)
