Summer Job SFI Physmet

Would you like to contribute to the development of the next generation of alloy for welding and 3D printing?

The work in this summer job will be associated with SFI Physmet, a research center for the development of sustainable and competitive metallurgical industries and manufacturing. The work will be carried out partially in Trondheim at NTNU Department of Materials Technology and partially at Bentler Automotive in Raufoss, where accommodation will be provided. You will receive close supervision at both locations from a dedicated mentor.

The summer job is related to testing and characterization of new welding wires for joining automotive components in aluminum. Together with your mentors, you will plan a test program and conduct physical welding experiments. This will be based on a theoretical preliminary study in welding metallurgy/additive manufacturing that you will carry out prior to the welding experiments.

There are no requirements for welding skills, but interest and basic understanding in metallurgy/materials technology are desirable. The job is reserved for fourth-year students in the materials technology program.

Please include your CV and transcription in your application.
