Pamela Perniss

Pamela Perniss

To Pamela Perniss' profilePamela Perniss is a Professor at the University of Cologne in the Faculty of Human Sciences and chair of the Sign Language Interpreting (DGS-German) program. Her research takes a multimodal approach to language and focuses, in particular, on the role of iconicity in the visual modality in shaping language structure and processing. Following her PhD at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics (2007), she did postdoctoral work at the Deafness, Cognition and Language (DCAL) Research Centre (University College London) and Radboud University Nijmegen and held a position in the Linguistics Department at the University of Brighton. She has been at the University of Cologne since 2019.
