About the course
Course content
The curriculum consists of about ten works, minimum three theoretical and minimum five fictional. The course instruction will be in collaboration with ALIT2203.
Learning outcome
Candidates will have obtained the following general competency after successfully completing this course:
- has specialised knowledge on a limited or specialised topic from 1800 till the present
- understands and reflects on literature in a more significant aesthetic, historical, social and cultural context
- can disseminate the academic content of the course critically and independently both orally and in writing
- can present and reflect on their acquired knowledge orally
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and seminar. Active student participation is expected.

Form of assessment: 2-week home examination of 5500-6500 words on a given subject from the curriculum.
Recommended previous knowledge
Bachelor's degree with specialisation in comparative literature or other relevant coursework equivalent to 80 credits.

Course materials
A reading proposal will be available first day of class. The students decide their own curriculum based on this suggestion, but the list must be approved by the lecturer.
