Course content

Topics:
- D&B excavation of tunnels, shafts and caverns.
- Excavation methods and equipment, time and costs.
- Occupational health, working environment, ventilation.
- Rock support.
- Quality.
- Organisation - Norwegian approach.
- Data acqusition, work studies, etc.
- Transfer of experience data from excavation to planning and design.
- IT in tunnelling.

Learning outcome

The goal of the course is to give the students further knowledge and understanding of different factors which influence the efficiency, quality, HES and economy of drill and blast tunnelling.

Learning methods and activities

Study group.
An individual study report (e.g. literature survey, experimental study or similar) is mandatory.
Exercises. The lectures and exercises are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course.
