About
About the course
Course content
The course focuses on research with and about children in Childhood Studies. It has an emphasis on qualitative research, covering approaches such as ethnography, interviews, participatory methods and child-led research. It addresses ethical challenges and power dynamics between children and adults, as well as questions about which methods are appropriate when children are involved as participants in research. The need for critical reflection regarding the purpose of a study and the theoretical and methodological choices that arise in a research process is emphasised. The course also explores connections between views about children and childhood and the choices researchers make throughout the research process.
