About the course

Course content

The course is set up in the form of research seminars and journal club meetings.
The research seminars offered at the Department of Human Movement Science provide a forum where candidates, supervisors and invited national and international researches present their research. After each presentation, there will be a joint discussion. At the journal club meetings, articles in the field of human movement science are presented and discussed. Candidates chair the seminars and introduce the articles at the journal club.
Research seminars will be held at least four times per year and the journal club meetings will take place at least 6 times per year.

Learning outcome

The aim of the course is to provide candidates with knowledge of current research in the field of human movement science from local, national and international environments. Moreover, candidates will acquire deeper insight into theories about human movement and learn how to critically read and evaluate scientific articles and review a paper. After completing the course the candidate also has experience with dissemination of research, chairing a seminar and leading discussions.

Learning methods and activities

Seminars with discussions and meetings with presentation and discussion of a scientific paper. Candidates will be evaluated on their participation and presentation, and on a review of a given article. Part of the course is taught in English. The entire course can be taught in English on request.

Compulsory assignments

  • Participation in at least 4 research seminars, of which 1 as chair and at least 1 oral presentation of one's own work
  • Participation in at least 6 journal club meetings of which at least 1 approved presentation

Required previous knowledge

Master's degree in Human Movement Science or equivalent.
