Course content

Immunology: the immune-system structure and organization soluble molecules and innate immunity adaptive immunity antibodies and antibody specificity lymphocytes and antigen recognition antigen processing and development of effector-cells regulation of the immune response immunity to microorganisms vaccines Laboratory work, immunological techniques: agglutination and precipitation cell differentiation antigen cell separation quantitative tests for immunoglobulin

Learning outcome

Learning outcome - Knowledge: On completion of the course, the students have achieved basic knowledge of the Immunological system, and can explain the basic regulation mechanisms of the immunological responses.     Learning outcome - Skills: In the laboratory work, the student should explain basic principles of agglutination, precipitation, cell differentiation antigen, cell separation, quantitative tests for immunoglobulins. The students should be able to perform these tests.      Learning outcome - Competence: Students should obtain a general competence about the human body's resistance to interventions from bacteria and viruses

Pedagogiske metoder: Lectures. Compulsory laboratory work     Obligatoriske arbeidskrav: Compulsory laboratory work, with compulsory written or oral reports.
