### Course content

Aritmetic and algebra, trigonometry, exponential functions, differentiation, integration, differential equations, multivariable functions, errors in analytical analysis; types and solvings, descriptive statistics inclusive regression, probability,stochastic variables and probability distributions

### Learning outcome

Knowledge The candidate: -has knowledge of good algebraic manipulations -has knowledge of mathematical logical thinking -has knowledge of the use of mathematical calculations -has knowledge of analytical errors in laboratory work -has knowledge of the concepts accuracy and precision and how too describe them -has knowledge of probability calculations -has knowledge of stochastic variables and probability distributions Skills The candidate: - can perform calculations on and reshape mathematical expression both in symbol and number form -can present in a credible and correct way both experimental data and teoretical formulas in grafic diagrams -can find mathematical equations from grafical plots and consider how suitable they ar to represent a set of data -can do calculations on different functions such as linear functions,power functions, trigonometric functions,exponential functions and logarithmic functions and do differntation on these and combination of them -can calculate integral and solve differntial equations -can present experimental data in table form, in graphic and calculate central tendency and dispersion -can do basic probability equations -can choose probability models and do probability equations on these General competence The candidate: -can use mathematics, descriptive statistics and probability to understand calculations on measurement result and do presentation of these -have an understanding for matematics and probability for later studies

### Learning methods and activities

Lectures and excercises inclusive excercises using Excel. Total workload for each student will be about 200 hours. There will be about 80 Scheduled hours with lectures and exercises.

Gyldendals formelsamling i matematikk or equivalent. 2 sheet size A4 with notes. For applications for credits, approval and integration of courses from previous years or other institutions' equivalent, each application will be evaluated individually.
