Laboratory exercise: Hydraulic bench with pipe unit. Learn about the relationships between diameter, roughness, friction and pressure loss, as well as pressure loss in bends and valves.
Learning outcome
The candidate should have knowledge of:
• Basic principles of sustainable planning and design of buildings and infrastructure.
• Alignment, road aesthetics and good adaptation to the surroundings.
• Laws, regulations, reports and standards applicable to the subject area.
• know how forces are transferred in structures• explain how structures are stiffened• Sustainable reuse.
• Software for digitization, modeling, visualization and simulation.
• Key concepts and formulas in the field.
• The main components and functionality of a water pipeline system, wastewater network and stormwater management.
Skills.
The candidate should be able to:
• Use the manuals of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration for the design of roads.
• Choose the type of material based on loads and environmental impact on simple structures.
• Design simple building structures, both manually and using computer tools according to the European standard NS-EN.
• explain the load-bearing capacity and stiffening system in typical building structures• Apply norms and reports for the design of water and wastewater facilities
General competence:
• Basic competence in the design of roads, water and sewage systems and building structures.
• have an understanding of the relationship between external stresses on a structure and the structure's function
• Be able to convey key subject matter such as describing the main features of the design of Building and Infrastructure.
• Have a good understanding of the connection between the basic theory and the practical application of the subject.
Learning outcome
Digital competence:
Qualified use of computer programs. Analysis, interpretation of results. Data Editing
Sustainability competence:
The course helps to provide students with the necessary foundation for designing sustainable infrastructure and buildings.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and exercises with supervision. Emphasis is placed on projects as a working method where the students in teams together will dimension the basic prerequisites for the implementation of a more precisely defined construction project.
