About the course

Course content

The course gives an introduction to key dramaturgical concepts and traditions in the performing arts and is also relevant to adjacent disciplines like film and music. The course develops the students' methodical skills in analyzing performative works, and in conceiving and realizing their own dramaturgical concepts. Emphasis is also put on knowledge and competence in academic writing and mediation.

  • conveying dramaturgical competence academically

  • Using dramaturgical concepts and methods in practice

  • Communicating dramaturgical insights in academic and artistic contexts
  • Independently finding, evaluating and referring to information and academic literature

Learning methods and activities

Lectures, seminars, practical exercises, group and individual assignments. The students are responsible for keeping up to date on information from the department and the course supervisor via Canvas.

  • 80% attendance at classes
  • Approved group and/or individual assignments

Oral examination of 30 minutes with preparatory work.
