About the course

Course content

The course will cover the followin topics:
Part 1.: Conservation equations, viscosity and stress terms, the boundary layer equations for momentum, heat and mass transfer.
Part 2: Momentum and heat transfer for laminar boundary layers, laminar flow in pipes/ducts, turbulent boundary layers, turbulent flow in pipes/ducts, influence of temperature-dependent fluid properties.
Part 3: Mass transfer boundary layers. Forced and free convection.

Learning outcome

To give an advanced treatment of convective heat and mass transfer related to industrial processes.

Lectures and compulsory exercises.

Required previous knowledge

Requires good basic knowledge of heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
