Learning outcome

KNOWLEDGE
The student
- is able to communicate research and development through recognized national and international channels
- has knowledge about the genres and conventions in scientific articles
- recognizes the elements and structure in a scientific article
- has knowledge about journalistic methods
- is familiar with communication work at NTNU
- is aware of other courses at NTNU that can complement their knowledge of scientific communication

SKILLS
The student
- is able to write a scientific abstract
- is conscious of language use (language of the discipline/English)
- is able to write an abstract for the general public that summarises the student's own research (e.g. press release, blogg)
- can describe his/her own research in few sentences to people with another disciplinary background (pitch)
- can read and listen critically and give feedback to fellow researchers
- is aware of branding of the university and self

Learning methods and activities

28 hours of lectures/seminar/group work over 2 2-day sessions with two weeks in between: first 2-day session (14 hours), 2 weeks with no sessions, second 2-day session (14 hours).

Course coordinator is Nancy Lea Eik-Nes. Other lecturers will be announced.

Attendance is obligatory.

Admission Requirements: Master degree or similar. Candidates with a lower degree will be assessed individually.
