Course - Genocide, Human Rights and History - HIST3205
Genocide, Human Rights and History
About
About the course
Course content
Genocide and human rights problems can be studied from a traditional historical perspective to find out what has happened and why. This will be the main focus of this course. However, when scrutinizing the explanations given for historical events, it soon becomes evident that perceptions and interpretations of history have played an important role in motivating and justifying genocide. Interpretations of earlier genocides have also contributed to justifying subsequent political practice. The course will therefore also include some examples on how history has been used in such contexts.
