About the course

Course content

-legislation, organization, management and coordination of municipal, regional, county and state measures for children and youth who experience psychosocial difficulties and substance abuse problems
- interdisciplinary and interdisciplinary cooperation - on cooperation and division of responsibility, both between services and levels
- collaborative knowledge - about various professional groups' knowledge and responsibilities.

Knowledge:

- the Convention on the Rights of the Child and other conventions, in particular with regard to children's rights

- national laws relevant to children's upbringing,

- the Act on Children and Parents, the Act on Allowances for Authorities, the Kindergarten Act, the Education Act, the Act on Child Welfare Services, the Act on Municipal Health and Care Services, the Act on the Specialist Health Service, the Act on Mental Health Care, the Act on Patient and User Rights, the Health Personnel Act, the Public Administration Act. with regulations

- The Government's strategic plan for the mental health of children and young people

- voluntary, self-help and user-driven services

The student

-can account for central legislation that regulates responsibility for children's upbringing and development

- can account for the child's co-determination and self-determination in personal circumstances

-can explain the organization of the support service and for the management of the various services

- can account for parents' responsibility for the child's upbringing and development and for co-operation between parents and the support service to ensure children's rights.

-can explain the duty of confidentiality and the application of it as a framework for inter-agency cooperation

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Psychosocial Work with Children and Youth (HSVPABU)

Required previous knowledge

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) within a relevant subject area. Direct work with children and young people in at least half position.
