About the course

Course content

This course is only available to students visiting NTNU Campus Gjøvik, and who has an agreement about supervision from professors at Dept IIK - Gjøvik.

Any student wishing to register for this course, must first make an appointment with the academic staff present at NTNU in Gjøvik. The project is defined in agreement with a supervisor at NTNU, and will address challenging scientific research or development problems. Students are advised to contact academic staff at the Department of Information Security and Communication Technology (IIK) in order to make an appointment for project work.

Learning outcome

After completing the course the student will have experience from (knowledge and skills):

  • working individually on a challenging scientific research or development problem
  • planning and conducting an R&D project
  • seeking and assessing work in a field relevant to the project
  • developing and assessing alternative solutions to the problem
  • documenting the results in a scientific report

General competence: The student will have developed a positive attitude to working in a scientific and problem-oriented way and is familiar with the ethics of scientific research.

Learning methods and activities

Project work

  • The project status must be reported regularly to the supervisor.
  • The project report must be presented orally to a general audience towards the end of the project, to be arranged and agreed upon with the supervisor.
  • The project report will be assessed and evaluated by the supervisor at NTNU in Gjøvik.

Students will get access to a merged Blackboard course room (NTNUs Learning Management System) serving similar courses, only for the purpose of additional best-practice information regarding project work and report writing.

Further on evaluation

A final report as well as an oral presentation of the project will form the basis for evaluation, - to be arranged and agreed upon with the supervisor.

The project work/report should reflect on the UN Sustainable Goals.

Required previous knowledge

The student must be an exchange student signed up for a Master's degree at a foreign college or university. Any student wishing to register for this course, must first make an appointment with the academic staff present at NTNU in Gjøvik (Dept. IIK).

Attendance NTNU Campus Gjøvik during the project work period is a requirement.
