Course content

The topics covered are varied, but will include:
-Software user interface design process
-Definitions of usability terms
-Human motivation
-Interaction mechanics
-Interface design
-Creativity in teams

Learning outcome

On completion of this course the students will be able to:

-Discuss why human centered software development is important
-Define a user-centered design process
-Understand user interaction mechanics
-Understand the process of designing an software experience
-User interface standards

-Be able to talk about the design process using correct terminology
-Be able to develop low-fidelity prototypes
-Work through the development of an idea from concept to implementation

General competence:
-Work more effectively in groups
-Understand the basic methods related to innovation and entrepreneurship

Learning methods and activities

This course will draw on the students experiences and develop skills and an appreciation for the design process by requiring the students to design usable software interfaces

Coursework requirements:
The students will cover the content of the 3IKK course during tutorials.

Re-sit examination for the written exam in August. No re-sit for the assignments. The grades for each of the two parts are valid the following academic year.

Forms of assessment:
-Written exam, 4 hours (counts 40%)
-One project delivery (counts 60%)
-Both parts must be passed in order to pass the course.

Specific conditions

Exam registration requires that class registration is approved in the same semester. Compulsory activities from previous semester may be approved by the department.
