Course - Chemical Processes in the Environment - KJ6009
Chemical Processes in the Environment
New from the academic year 2026/2027
About
About the course
Course content
The course provides an overview of the chemical composition of and chemical processes occurring in the natural environment, including air, water, and soil. Topics covered include: the natural environment in a sustainability context; fundamental water chemistry; redox processes; phase interactions; the atmosphere and atmospheric chemistry; the geosphere and geochemistry; and soil chemistry. Examples will be linked to human impacts and activities that interact with natural processes.
Learning outcome
After completing the course, students will be able to:
• Describe the fundamental features of the chemical composition of the natural environment.
• Explain important chemical processes occurring in air, water, and soil.
• Describe natural geochemical and biogeochemical cycles.
Learning methods and activities
The course includes a digital learning module (online course) as well as one or more digital sessions.
Compulsory assignments
- Online course
Further on evaluation
The digital course must be completed and approved before the exam.
