Course content
The course deals with the legal matters of cultural heritage management, and gives an insight to how public administrative bodies with responsibility for Norwegian cultural heritage deal with a number of administrative procedures. The course covers the same topics as KULMI2700, but will focus on administrative procedures and problems found in institutions that work with cultural heritage.
Learning outcome
A candidate who passes this course is expected to have the following learning outcome according to the course curriculum defined as knowledge and skills:
Knowledge
The candidate
- has good knowledge of the Plan and Building Act and its content and proceedings in regard to planning when listed buildings are concerned.
- has practical and theoretical knowledge of governmental administration and planning on local and regional level
Skills
The candidate
- has knowledge of substantive law and procedure.
- has competence in local and regional administration of planning
- can understand and use a juridical language and identify legal issues
- can apply legal instruments in planning to preserve listed buildings

Exam registration requires that class registration is approved in the same semester. Compulsory activities from previous semester may be approved by the department.
Recommended previous knowledge
Knowledge about cultural heritage law and public administration law.
Required previous knowledge
Bachelor's degree in Cultural Heritage Management or equivalent.
