Course content

The course deals with the legal matters of cultural heritage management, and gives an insight to how public administrative bodies with responsibility for Norwegian cultural heritage deal with a number of administrative procedures. The course covers the same topics as KULMI2700, but will focus on administrative procedures and problems found in institutions that work with cultural heritage.

Learning outcome

A candidate who passes this course is expected to have the following learning outcome according to the course curriculum defined as knowledge and skills:

Knowledge

The candidate

  • has good knowledge of the Plan and Building Act and its content and proceedings in regard to planning when listed buildings are concerned 
  • has practical and theoretical knowledge of governmental administration and planning on local and regional level

Skills

The candidate

  • has knowledge of substantive law and procedure 
  • has competence in local and regional administration of planning
  • can understand and use a juridical language and identify legal issues
  • can apply legal instruments in planning to preserve listed buildings

Lectures, seminars and a compulsory assignment.
