Biotechnology milestones - history
Medical biotechnology (red biotechnology) and the use of it in the past, present and future
Industrial biotechnology (white biotechnology), products and prosesses
Biotecnology in agriculture (green biotechnology), products, GMO, pesticides, ecological production
Marine biotechnology (blue biotechnology), "the blue gold", aquaculture
Etichs in biotechnology
Regulations in biotechnology (bioteknologiloven)

Learning outcome

Læringsutbytte - Kunnskap:

basic knowledge about the history of biotechnology and its significance.

knowledge about the most important biotechnological applications in medicine, agriculture, industry and marine production

knowledge about ethical issues

knowledge about the most important regulations in biotechnological sciense

basic knowledge about forensic science

knowledge about the use of biotechnology in diagnosis and treatment of humans and animals


Læringsutbytte - Kompetanse:

Basic biotechnology will give the students basic knowledge to continue studying biotechnology-based courses.

Learning methods and activities

Pedagogiske metoder:

Lectures up to 24 hours, supervision of compulsory theoretical semester assignments up to 24 hours, Students' own efforts and preparation for the exam are calculated to be up to 140 hours.

Portifolio assesment; 4 mandatory assignments. Selected work from those are delivered as one protifolio by the end of the semester.

Exam registration requires that class registration is approved in the same semester. Compulsory activities from previous semester may be approved by the department.
