Course content

In semester IIC, the students learn: Pathology, emergency medicine, dermatology, orthopaedics and rheumatology, infectious diseases, radiology/imaging and psychiatry.

Semester IID includes: Obstetrics/gynaecology, pediatrics, child psychiatry, nephrology, urology, endocrinology, and radiology/imaging.

In addition, there are 5 sheared weeks (3 weeks in December/January, 2 weeks in May) with the following common themes for IIC/D: Estrogen/osteoporosis, oncology, genetics, tropical medicine, social medicine, urinary tract/incontinence, microbiology, infections, plastic surgery.

In both IIC and IID, the teaching is organised in thematic weeks. Lectures, clinics, seminars and courses are given on Mondays and Fridays (and also Tuesdays in IID), while clinical teaching and PBL (problem based learning) are given the rest of the week throughout the semester. In addition to the respective clinical departments, other departments and institutes are also integrated in the teaching, including courses in pathology, genetics and clinical decision making.

All students (from IIc and IID) will, during autumn in the 4th year, chose their theme for their main thesis, get a supervisor and deliver a protocol before November 15th. See also semester IIIA.
