About the course

Course content

Subject 1 physical education 1-7 must, together with subject 2, qualify for teaching in physical education from grades 1-7 in primary school. Subject 1 is based on physical education as a general education subject. Through theoretical and practical approaches, the subject will focus on the relevance of physical education as a school subject, what promotes pupils' physical learning, positive self-understanding and enjoyment of movement, teaching in different movement environments, as well as knowledge about assessment in physical education. In physical education 1-7, play and beginner training are central.

KNOWLEDGE

The student

  • has knowledge of the physical education subject's relevance and central values, uniqueness and legitimation as well as connections to other school subjects
  • has knowledge of teaching planning and implementation in physical education
  • have knowledge of assessment in physical education (skills in course 2)
  • have knowledge of play and movement activities in children's development (1-7)
  • has knowledge of prerequisites for learning based on the growth and development of the student at stages 1-7 / 5-10
  • SKILLS

The student

  • can plan and carry out teaching in physical education based on legislation, the current curriculum and professional ethical guidelines
  • can explore own bodily expressions and lead and carry out creative processes where movement experience and reflection are central
  • can identify dangers and ensure the pupils' safety in various activities and movement environments
  • can facilitate swimming training at levels 1-7 / 5-10 and perform life-saving first aid and lifesaving in water
  • can include the basic skills in teaching on the premises of the subject

GENERAL COMPETENCE

The student

  • can discuss how physical education contributes to the student's general education
  • can communicate with pupils, parents and colleagues about physical education
  • can work with physical education in an interdisciplinary perspective, including the three interdisciplinary themes in the curriculum

Learning methods and activities

The program contains varied forms of learning with a lot of practical work in different learning environments. Students must work individually and in groups.

Mandatory work requirements:

  • 80% compulsory attendance at classes.
  • Approved up to 4 exercises.

The students can be assessed, required to take part in coursework and required to attend teaching related to interdisciplinary topics.

Mandatory work requirements are assessed with approved/not approved. All mandatory work requirements must be approved for the candidate to be able to take the exam.
