Course content

The course aims to nurture the passion the research field. The research project will allow students to have the hands-on opportunity to develop pertinent skills in research, including the formulation of a research hypothesis, critique of published literature, experimental design methodologies, and data collection and analysis.

Learning outcome

At the end of this course, the student should be able to:

  • identify the question or hypothesis; carry out a literature survey on the subject matter; design methodologies to conduct a study; collect, organize and
  • analyze data
  • communicate effectively through various means including oral presentations and written articles.
  • produce an effective research poster appropriate for a poster presentation.

Learning methods and activities

Independent research project work on a relevant topic under supervision.

Compulsory assignments

  • The first draft of the FYP report will be assessed by the supervisors

Specific conditions

Compulsory activities from previous semester may be approved by the department.

A first degree (a bachelor's degree) in a relevant field
