Course content

The course aims to nurture the passion to the research field. The research project will allow exchange students to have the hands-on opportunity to develop pertinent skills in research, including the formulation of a research hypothesis, critique of published literature, experimental design methodologies, and data collection and analysis.

Learning outcome

After the research project thesis the student should have

Knowledge:

  • in depth knowledge in a specific topic

Competence

  • formulate a research question based on adequate insight into current knowledge
  • to report outcomes of research and defend interpretations and conclusions in a coherent way, both orally and in writing

Skills

  • apply and adopt experimental methods to gain new knowledge;
  • obtain, record and interpret experimental data; is able to retrieve and interpret published scientific data;

Learning methods and activities

Independent research project work on a relevant topic under supervision.

Compulsory assignments

  • Oral presentation of written report

Further on evaluation

An oral presentation of the work is to be held before the written report is submitted and assessed. The supervisor and examiner will assess the work to pass or not pass. In the event of not pass (not passed), a new or revised report with significant changes may be submitted for assessment one more time. No more than three attempts.

A first degree (a bachelor's degree) in a relevant field
