About the course
Course content
The course covers accompaniment-/ensemble literature for the most common solo instruments/songs of important periods and genres. The student will accompany at internal concerts in the study period. The student may choose to specialize in one particular genre. Students will receive some training in reduction of orchestra transcriptions etc. For piano and guitar: some basic training in general bass playing/figuration,for guitar also tabulator playing. The student must independently organize accompaniment with fellow students at the start of the semester. Accompaniment of fellow students who have a secondary instrument elective is particularly relevant.
The course can be included as an elective in the bachelor's degree in performance music - classical. The department assigns elective courses to students based on their prioritized preferences, as well as academic and resource considerations

Learning methods and activities
Regular individual and/or group tuition. Observation of accompaniment lessons with a teacher. The student must participate with accompanying playing in at least two concert performances prior to the exam.
Instruction is obligatory and demands minimum 80% attendance.
Lessons that are intended to enable the student to achieve the learning objectives in the course are offered no more than once.
Compulsory assignments
- Participation at 2 concerts
- Satisfactory participation in compulsory instruction
- A minimum of 90 minutes studied repertoire
Further on evaluation
Practical examination (30 minutes) in accompaniment.
The studied repertoire (90 minutes) includes the program for the examination concert and must be delivered medio April.

Required previous knowledge
Requires passed MUSP4136 or equivalent with piano, guitar or other accompaniment instrument. A high level in prima-vista playing will be an advantage.
