Skills:

The candidate must acquire and further develop:

  • a good and appropriate vocal technique.
  • methods for self-study of scores.
  • methods for practical implementation of choir exercises.
  • a basis for being able to complete work tasks in music life or further studies in choral conducting / ensemble singing.

Learning methods and activities

The students participate as choristers in the TSO choir, which is the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra's permanent choir for opera and vocal-instrumental productions.

The practice takes place as ordinary choir rehearsals of 3 hours, one evening a week. In addition, there are some intense study periods (seminar weekends, production weeks and the like). Information about this is given at the beginning of the semester.

In collaboration with the academic leader (the choir's permanent conductor), each student sets up an annual program that consists of a minimum of 3 productions. The productions should be in varied styles.

Compulsory assignments

  • Participation in three projects/productions

Further on evaluation

The reflection assignment must shortly sum up the productions that the student has participated in. The students must reflect on their learning outcome as a choir singer, and describe the artistic outcome of the projects and the repertoire in the productions they have been part of. Scope: 2-3 pages.
