MUSV3117 - Musicals

Course content

The course is about the history of the musical from Showboat (1927) to our present. The seminars will have showings of DVDs of the most central musicals.

Learning outcome

Knowledge: An examinee with a completed qualification in MUSV3117 - has in-depth knowledge about the most central musicals, and their origin Skills: An examinee with a completed qualification in MUSV3117 - can express his/her deepened knowledge in a convincing way, both in writing and speech

Learning methods and activities

The course is given in the form of lectures and seminars, where the student is expected to partake actively. The text for the home examination should have a length of about 10 pages. Bachelor's thesis must be delivered in the course code MUSV2031.

Further on evaluation

If the course is not passed, the student must retake the whole assessment. Bachelor's theses based on this course's topic must be delivered in the course code MUSV2031.

Specific conditions

Required previous knowledge

Requires admission to one of the Bachelor's programmes or Master's programmes in Musicology, Music Technology or Music Performance Studies.
