Course content
An introduction to the globalization literature with contributions from economics, political science and sociology. Both theoretical, conceptual and empirical issues will be discussed.
Learning outcome
Knowledge - the student shall:
- know how to define the term globalization and have knowledge of the main features of globalization
- have knowledge of how Norway is affected economically, politically and culturally by globalization
Skills - the student shall demonstrate the ability to:
- apply terms, theories and models which are central to globalization
- demonstrate independence in the preparation of a semester assignment which fulfills the basic criteria for scientific writing
Learning methods and activities
Lectures 2 hours a week throughout the semester and seminars in some of the weeks. Compulsory activity: Approved term paper(s) and excercise(s). Specific requirements will be announced at the beginning of the term. Lectures may be given in English.
