Course content

The course gives a thorough training in the biological foundation of perception and behaviour with particular emphasis on principles characterizing functional biological systems. The scientific topics include sensory/motor systems, emotions, hormones and plasticity/learning.

Learning outcome

The student has a thorough knowledge of the anatomical, physiological and genetic principles related to human behavior and awareness, and a deeper understanding of the research methods used in biological psychology.

Students can discuss writing scientific issues in biological psychology, based on theory and research findings.

General competence:
The student has good knowledge of key issues, theory and literature related to biological psychology. Students can discuss scientific findings in the light of theory and key issues.

Learning methods and activities

lectures 2 hours per week.
Some lectures might be in English.

Specific conditions

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Clinical Psychology Programme (CPSY)
Clinical Psychology Programme, 6 years (CPSY6)

Required previous knowledge

PSYPRO4113 or the equivalent.
