Course content

This is an in-depth knowledge course in social psychology. Relevant topics include social inferences, decisions and choices, attitude formation and social influence.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:

  • The student has in-depth knowledge of social psychology with an emphasis on select central topics from social influence, social behavior, group processes and linguistic communication.
  • The student has in-depth knowledge of select topics including attitude formation and change, social inferences, decisions and choices, social exclusion, environmental behavior and judgement of risk, and language as a social tool.
  • The student has broad knowledge of how social psychological processes can vary within and between societies and cultures.

Skills:

  • The student can analyze and apply important theories and findings within the discipline and reflect independently about the behavior of individuals and groups and its underlying causes.

General competence:

  • The student can reflect critically about how humans think and function as social beings, both in groups and in society at large.
  • The student knows how to critically evaluate social psychological research and communicate about issues within the discipline.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and seminar. The course is in English.
