Course content

The course is based on applied and clinical use of knowledge obtained through the courses Cognitive Psychology 1 and 2. The theoretical part covers cognitive models of psychosis, autism, impulsivity, extinction and exposure treatment, and memory errors. Which applied training can be offered depends on who is available in any given semester. This may cover extinction treatment for phobias, neurofeedback, or metacognitive training for psychosis.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:

  • The student has knowledge of a cognitive approach to mental health called computational psychiatry.
  • The student has knowledge of how memories change, including through reconsolidation and extinction

Skills:

  • The student has skills about using cognitively based interventions.

General competence:

  • The student has competence in how to apply knowledge of human cognition in clinical settings.

Exercises, lectures, seminar and group work. Tutorials.Some lectures will be in English.

PSYPRO4112 Cognitive Psychology I or the equivalent.
