About the course
Course content
The course offers a basic theoretical and historical understanding of children's literature and the use of children's literature in the teaching of reading/learning to read.
Learning outcome
Knowledge
The student has an overview over central literary genres within children's literature and broad lines in the history of Norwegian and European children's literature. The student has knowledge of oral storytelling tradition.
Skills
The student can analyse and interpret texts for children and conduct exploratory conversations about children's literature.
General competence
The student can facilitate aesthetic and creative processes in work with children's literature, and the student can make use of knowledge about relevant research within the topics covered by the course, both in a school context and in research.
Learning methods and activities
Different teaching methods will be used, such as discussions, lectures, group work, student presentations both oral and written.
Mandatory attendance
Compulsory assignments
- Analytical-aesthetic work with children's literary texts
- Didactic planning of dissemination of children's literature and presentation of experiences
- Compulsory attendance in sessions
Further on evaluation
Attendance at the gatherings is mandatory at a minimum of 80%.
Between the gatherings, mandatory assignments will be given. These will include tasks related to working with students and colleagues at your own school. All mandatory assignments must be completed and approved before you can take the exam.
Mandatory activities are assessed as either approved or not approved.
Oral Examination
Permitted Aids During the Exam:
The oral exam consists of a presentation part and a discussion part. Any written or digital material used in the presentation must be submitted one day before the exam via Canvas, no later than 13:00. No aids are permitted during the subsequent academic discussion.
