Course content

Intensive course with beginner’s vocabulary, pronunciation and basic grammar. The spoken, informal conversation will be emphasized. Topics for everyday life: Work and family, traveling, grocery shopping, etc. The Norwegian language in context.

Learning outcome

On completion of this course the students will:

-Know the most important principles for grammar and syntax

-Be familiar with Norwegian customs in everyday situations.

-Be able to conduct simple conversations in Norwegian

Additional information: The focus will be on oral activities with conversations and discussions about everyday life, studies and work.

Students will be required to give a brief presentation in Norwegian on a topic chosen by the student.

No re-sit examination.


Form(s) of Assessment:

-Written exam (2 h): Final exam to demonstrate understanding within reading, grammar and writing.

-Oral presentation: Oral, individual presentation in Norwegian language for 2-5 minutes.


Required previous knowledge

Only open to International students, exchange students and international programmes/Erasmus+. No required previous knowledge.
