About the course

Course content

Throughout the course, students will receive a general introduction to project management and projects as a phenomenon. The course will provide an introduction to projects as a form of governance, organization, management, and work. Topics such as uncertainty, resource allocation, stakeholders’ influence on projects and their management, innovation, sustainability, and learning in projects are among the central themes highlighted. The value-creating elements of projects from initiation to benefit realization are some of the most central aspects of projects and are thoroughly covered in the course. The central role of the project manager for the potential success of projects is also emphasized.

Learning outcome

Knowledge - Upon completion of the course, students should:

  • Have basic knowledge and insight into what characterizes value-creating projects and the appropriate application of projects.
  • Have knowledge of the fundamental elements of project management, project control, and project economics.
  • Have insight into the central role of the project manager in projects.

Skills - Upon completion of the course, students should:

  • Be able to evaluate and apply basic project management techniques and tools.
  • Have the skills to plan, organize, and execute projects.

General Competence

  • The student should be capable of critically assessing both the process and progress of projects.
  • The student should understand the complexity of project work and be able to adapt related tools that affect the project’s resource use, outcome, and purpose.
