Course content
The course builds on the introductory course in organization and management, SMF1193 Organizations and Management, where the student learned relevant terms and theories in the field. This course goes more in-depth on some of these topics, by giving the student an understanding of how individual- and social-psychological processes have an impact on learning, performance, and cooperation at the workplace, and how leadership can facilitate and support these processes for a positive impact on the organizational value creation.
Learning outcome
Knowledge:
- Acquire basic knowledge of theories and processes within organisational psychology and the management subject
- Acquire knowledge of the subject's history and place in society
Skills:
- Develop independent and critical thinking related to management and organisational psychological topics.
- Be able to apply professional knowledge to theoretical and practical issues within management and organisational psychological topics.
General competence:
- Have insight into relevant professional and ethical issues when it comes to organising and leading employees.
- Develop an awareness of the complexity of organisational life.
- Think critically about choices that are made in organisational contexts.
- Be able to convey central subject matter such as theories, problems and solutions both in writing and orally
Learning methods and activities
The curriculum as well as the learning resources and collaborations between fellow students are an important part of the course.
In addition to individual studies of the topics, the students will form digital groups to work with throughout the semester (syncronic or asyncronic according to student preferences)
The students in their groups will write and comment on other groups' blogs about specified parts of the curriculum during the semester, within set deadlines. There will be two blog themes for each group.
The groups will also write a compulsory group assignment and make peer student assessments of other groups' assignments in accordance to the given guidelines.

Further on evaluation
Compulsory activities described above and specified at the beginning of the semester must be passed to take the exam.
The exam is a home assignment in the form of a written assignment. The students can decide whether they want to write and submit the assignment (that will be graded) individually or as a group of 2-3 students.
No re-sit of exam until the next ordinary exam in the course.
