About the course
Course content
This course offers an introduction to sociological theories of work, organization of work, work environment and conditions of employment. These theories will be discussed in light of empirical examples from private as well as public sector, with a particular emphasis on the current trends of development in an international perspective.
Learning outcome
Knowledge - the student shall:
- through the presentation and review of central theories and actual issues, gain a basic sociological understanding of the area of work and labor organizations.
Skills - the student shall demonstrate the ability to:
- use the central theories and approaches to the analysis of actual issues in the field of work and labor organizations.
Learning methods and activities
2-4 hours of lectures and seminars every week throughout the semester according to the lecture plan. The compulsory activity can only be completed in the spring semester.

- Attendance on relevant seminars and approved assignment(s)

This course is suitable for students in sociology, psychology, economy, media science etc who want to learn more about work and organisation.
