About the course

Course content

The course provides an introduction to the study of media and mediated communication from a sociological perspective, with particular emphasis on the media organization/structure and the interaction between media and society. Newspapers, television and internet are medias that are central in this context.

Learning outcome

Knowledge – the student shall:
- through the presentation and review of central theories and approaches, gain a basic sociological understanding in the area of Media and Sociology.

Skills - the student shall demonstrate the ability to:
- use the central theories and approaches to analyze actual issues in the field of Media and Sociology.

Learning methods and activities

4 hours of lectures every week throughout the first part of the semester, and seminars throughout the whole semester according to the lecture plan.
