About the course
Course content
The course presents and discusses various methods of qualitative data collection principles and how the different principles can produce different types of qualitative data. Emphasis is on practical exercises with various methods of data collection. Some exercises will be based on the presentation of research articles and chapters in groups and/or in plenary.
Learning outcome
Knowledge - the student shall:
- achieve insight into the principles of qualitative research methods.
- achieve a knowledge of and be familiar with the challenges tied to the use of different qualitative research methods.
Skills - the student shall demonstrate the ability to:
- use different qualitative methods for data generation and analysis.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and seminars equivalent to 4 hours per week.

- Interview- and observation assignment

SOS1002 or IDRSA1016/IDRSA1017 or the equivalent. The requirement must be fulfilled to be admitted to the course.
