Course content

The course provides a thorough introduction to Spanish grammar, with emphasis on the differences between Spanish and Norwegian.

Learning outcome

A candidate who has passed this course is expected to have obtained the following learning outcome in accordance with the course description, defined as knowledge, skills and general qualifications. KNOWLEDGE

The candidate

  • is familiar with the Spanish parts of speech
  • is familiar with basic Spanish morphology and syntax
  • is familiar with tense in the Spanish verb system
  • is familiar with agreement and concord

SKILLS

The candidate

  • can conjugate verbs in indicative, and identify parts of Speech
  • can carry out a syntactic analysis of simple sentences in Spanish.
  • can make efficient use of Spanish grammar to improve his/her own language proficiency
  • can use relevant academic tools

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate

  • can plan and carry out comprehensive linguistics tasks and projects
  • is able to convey key subject matters such as theories, problems and solutions
  • is able to reflect critically on his/her own academic practice and adjust this practice under supervision

Learning methods and activities

The course is a combination of lectures and group sessions. The students are expected to participate in grammar exercises in pairs and in groups. A good progression depends on the students' degree of participation in lectures and group sessions. The course is taught in Spanish.

A minimum of 75% attendance to lectures and seminars is obligatory. Absence above 25% requires an application at the start of the semester.

Students will complete three mandatory assignments during the semester, of which at least one is an oral presentation.

Approved obligatory assignments are valid for 2 semesters (the semester in which the approval is given, plus the following semester). All obligatory assignments must be completed in the same semester.

Compulsory assignments

  • 75% attendance
  • 3 exercises

The exam must be answered in Spanish. Information about which dictionaries or other aids students are allowed to consult during the exam will be made available at the beginning of the semester.

The reading list will be announced at the beginning of the semester.
