Course content

General pathology and pharmacology
Cardiovascular and blood diseases
Diseases in the nervous system and the skeletal and muscular system
Diseases in the respiratory organs and ear-nose-throat (ENT) diseases
Diseases in endocrine organs, diabetes mellitus
Diseases in the digestive system and nutritional needs during illness
Kidney and urinary tract diseases, fluid/electrolyte and acid/base disorders
Traumatology, injuries/intoxications and first aid
Gynaecology and paediatrics

Learning outcome

The student has knowledge about:
-causes, symptoms/signs, diagnostics and treatment of damages and diseases in the organ systems.
-general and special pharmacology, including indication, effects and side-effects of drugs in order to maintain patient safety
-nutrition and its effect on health, disease and treatment

Learning methods and activities

Lectures, Group Works, Exercises, Reflection

Reflection and group work will be included in the use of advanced patient simulators.
