About the course
Course content
The course involves independent study. The course allows students to specialise in a discipline or sub-discipline chosen from those offered within the study programme, and can be taken from either one of the variants of language, literature or cultural history. Students must apply to take the course, and only students who are unable to take a taught MA course in the same semester will be admitted.
Students will receive more information about the course organization or structure for their respective programs at the start of the semester.

Knowledge
Through independent study, candidates who have passed this course will have achieved deeper knowledge at master's level of a self-chosen area from those offered within the study programme.

Approval of individual reading list/curriculum and draft of the term paper.

Further on evaluation
Assessment: A term paper of between 3000 and 4000 words, dependent on the discipline of study and in consultation with an instructor/supervisor.
Students should complete the assignment in the language of instruction of their program of study. E.g. students admitted to an English program should write the assignment in English. Students admitted to a Scandinavian Studies program should write the assignment in Norwegian, etc.

Master's Degree with integrated Post Graduate Teacher Training (MPPU)

Recommended previous knowledge
Completed Bachelor's degree with specialisation in English, French, German or Scandinavian studies, or an equivalent approved education.
Required previous knowledge
Admission to one of the following Master’s degree programmes: English, Scandinavian Language and Literature Studies, MA in Language Studies with Teacher Education (MLSPRÅK), or Master's Degree with integrated Postgraduate Certificate in Education (MPPU).
Course materials
An individual reading list/curriculum is drawn up in consultation with a teacher/supervisor from the relevant language section. The curriculum must not overlap with the curriculum from other courses that the student has taken previously. The curriculum must be approved by the Department of Language and Literature.
